After last weeks hard fought defeat the ‘Parkers’ were in need of three points against Preston.
In conditions akin to Dorothy and Toto’s trip to Oz (via Kansas) MPFC took to the field…..then after about 25 minutes warming up (literally) they were joined by their opponents for the day at around 2.59.59 seconds.
The team had a revised look to it with Marty ‘The’ Gall repositioned to right back, Lukey Oz-land in the centre, Mickey Finesse on the right of midfield and Iain (Back in) the Sadler upfront…
Unlike the weather…MPFC started brightly causing problems to the Preston defence especially down both wings, and after one early disallowed (but completely valid) goal, ‘The Gall’ redefining rules of football to play right back, right wing and striker in one was put through on goal by Finesse (I think)……Finish! 1 – 0
The Parkers were establishing complete control with both the centre back, and the centre midfielders winning their respective battles and it wasn’t long before the Parkers cheer squad were doing another Mexican wave….a sweeping cross from ‘Iron Man’ Mark Scot-knee and ‘The Lotus’ Sadler put his recent yoga training into practice by crouching to an impossible angle to guide a header into the bottom right……Finish! 2 – 0
More action…
Whistle…blows……half time
After the motivational half time prep talk from the SS it was back into the frozen wastelands that was the Preston Park……
After sustaining a little pressure on their own defence, the Parkers were back making chances with both Wane & Finesse combining effectively on the left to provide for the 5 strikers (in name only) that were playing at that time……another cross from Finesse (I think) and who should pop up to ‘slam-dunk’ for a three pointer….that’s right Mr Right Back himself……Finish!…..oh Yes!….3 – 0
With the game won the chances continued to flow and after another cross from Scot-Knee (I think) Sadler used his newly found ninja type skills to head, chest, knee and tap the ball into the net all in one swift movement…now we know where he was during the pre-season!!
A final well deserved goal from the boot of Scot-knee….Finish! (Job done)….5 – 0
